The Falcon and The Winter Soldier - Review
TFATWS is a Disney+ miniseries directed by Malcom Spellman, staring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, Sebastian Stan as James "Bucky" Barnes and other cast members including Wyatt Russell, Erin Kellyman, Danny Ramirez, Georges St-Pierre, Adepero Oduye, Don Cheadle, Daniel Brühl, Emily VanCamp, Florence Kasumba, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. TFATWS is based on the Marvel Comics characters and is part of the shared Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The series pickups six months after the events of Avengers Endgame, where the elderly Captain America(Steve Rogers) gives the shield to Sam Wilson(The Falcon) and asks him to be the next Captain America, sort of passing down the mantle of Captain America. But, Sam is reluctant to take on as new Captain America because of some issues which are explored in the series meanwhile Bucky Barnes(Winter Soldier) is pardoned by the government on the condition that he undergoes psychological therapy. Meanwhile there is this terrorist organization called the "Flag Smashers" which are causing chaos, now Bucky and Sam has to team up to defeat the enemy, while on this journey helping each other grow. The series gives great character arcs for both of our main characters, it gives us 90's buddy cop movie vibe, where we take two characters with personalities at opposite spectrum and forcing them to work together to achieve a common goal, while they help each other with their own personal journey. By the end of the series both the characters are at better place both literally and metaphorically from where they were in the beginning of the series.
I am happy with six episode format, short, simple and with zero fillers. I don't have a problem with the large number of episodes unless the main characters aren't enjoyable, well luckily this is not the case with TFATWS. All characters are enjoyable and well played by the actors. Out all the characters in the series I enjoyed Zemo character played by Daniel Bruhl. He stole all the scenes he was in and of course the dancing Zemo, the internet's new sweetheart. Kudos to Marvel for releasing the longer version of dancing Zemo, talk about fan service, studios should learn from marvel.
Conclusion:
Overall its a great series to watch and it's very exciting to see how far MCU's shared universe has grown. It's a fun to watch series even if you're not superhero type movie fan. This series has some of the best jaw dropping action scenes, mostly the action scenes involving Falcon were amazing. Also I love the Falcon's new captain America suit it looks like it's taken straight from the comic books. Go watch TFATWS if you haven't already.
Score: 7.5/10
Hope you have a great day.
